Find out from SC's largest employers how many of their employees they've "imported" from other states or countries due to qualification issues (or lack thereof) of South Carolina resident candidates.
Also find out if they offer any on-the-job literacy training or remedial education in order to bring employees up to the level they need them. If not, have they ever considered doing this? Do they think it would help their productivity?
Also figure out which companies considered moving to SC but didn't, and whether or not that had anything to do with the low literacy or skills of the available workforce.
